My book Blood On Borrowed Wings has been nominated for a prestigious March / April Group read.
It’s on Goodreads in the ‘Grimdark Fantasy’ Group.
Please follow the link below to vote in the poll – it would really help book sales, exposure and help me out massively.

In a world where so many imbalances can be caused by a misused vote, please take a minute to do something positive. It won’t change the world – but for just a moment of your time, it might change mine.
Thanks for reading.
It is 6 months since my novel ‘Blood On Borrowed Wings’ went live on the Amazon store and I thought I would let everyone know how it is going.

I have shifted 350 copies and had 23000 pages read through the Kindle subscription service too.
I know sales don’t seem especially high – I am not troubling any bestsellers lists – but for the genre it ranked at 11th best selling at one point and it has far exceeded my hopes on how many people would invest their time (and money) on reading it. The feedback has been great too. The paying public do not write reviews often, but the reviews I have received have been positive, honest and encouraging.
This coupled with my lack of marketing budget and ineptitude on social media, means any sales at all are minor miracles to me.
I would really like to thank everyone who has supported me so far with reviews, interest, social media shares and plain old ‘Can ya get a shift on and write book 2?’
And can I ask 3 things
- If you have bought it and / or read it – please leave a review on Amazon, it really does help with sales.
- If you haven’t bought it – buy it, it is a great summer read.
- Share it with as many people you can to help give me a chance. When I hit 500 sales I will be putting a proposal together for agents and publishing houses.
If anyone out there would like a free copy, please let me know and I would happily exchange one for an honest review.
Thanks Bloggers and followers.
(Book 2 is on it’s way, stop going on about it!!)
Anyone have any ideas on how best to put a link on your Blog to your book on Kindle?
Any way I could have a picture or fancy graphic that when clicked on would lead to my book?
I am not technically gifted (as you may have guessed) but am keen to make the most of my blog to try and raise the profile of my work when I release it.
Any help would be gratefully received.
Thank you for reading.
Do you have to be a geek to enjoy science fiction?
Is there a stigma to the genre?
Is the news right? Is the geek economy in turmoil (at least I think that’s what the newsreader said?)
My hair is neither lank or dyed black, I even wash occasionally – yet I have chosen to write a science fiction book.
It chose me.
The story and characters emerged and told me where they needed to live, and when.
They told me to forget any illusions of literary credit or note, credibility or ease of marketing. They flew me to a saturated market and kicked me out of the zeppelin.
In short, they screwed me over.
I have exacted my revenge by putting them all through the wringer, I’ve killed a few of them off. Maimed them. Dangled a love interest to get their hopes up, then dashed them on the rocks of hubris.
(And let me tell you, dangling a love interest can often get you into trouble!)
With them all put to rights, I am hoping to soon stop cringing when I talk of the genre of my book. To quell any embarrassment or misplaced concern…and if I can’t?
Well I can always hop into a time machine, onto a dinosaur, into a black hole or bestride a BMX with a hoodie wearing telephone addict and escape.
I mean any escape is good, right?
Think you could give me 10 second feedback?
I have had some great bloggers give me their help with my synopsis so I thought I would bite the bullet and put it out there. Warts and all.
Please read the below, take 10 seconds to reflect, then scribble down what you think quickly and send a comment. It’s only my 37th draft, so please let fly and help me make it the best it can be.
And I’d be happy to return the favour anytime. Anyways, going to quit stalling. Here you go.
BLOOD ON BORROWED WINGS – A SCIENCE-FICTION THRILLER.
Stay low. Keep moving.
After Drake Theron ditches his wings and military brothers, he turns mercenary to forget a horrific battle where so much more than lives were lost.
When women start disappearing from the Angelbrawl Arena, Drake is hired to stop the loss of life and profit. He thinks it is just another job. Business. But it turns into something far more sinister and personal when he is abducted together with the beautiful woman he is trying to protect.
He is drawn into a conspiracy that stretches from the acrid stench of the neon Lowlands slums to Nimbus City and the very top of society. On the run, betrayed by friends, used by his enemies and hunted by black-winged assassins, Drake has to confront his past and do the worst thing imaginable to survive: ask for help.
Blood on Borrowed Wings is science fiction noir. A fast-paced original thriller full of twists, fists and feathers. It is set on Nimbus, a future Earth, a world divided, where the powerful and evil dominate the skies…and not only birds have wings.
Now pause to reflect. 10 secs. Then vomit down what you think, ’cause I do need your help. Really!
Thanks for your help so far to:
It has been an age since I last blogged.
Didn’t think so.
I am in the throes of scrawling a synopsis / Kindle blurb for the novel I have finished writing and thought I would have a quick flurry on my blog so I could write a sentence without analysing it twenty times just to delete it and start again.
So, any writers out there? Any tips for putting together a good synopsis?
So far, my efforts are cliche free, but I can definitely feel a panicked
‘It was a dark and stormy night’ coming on.
Love Is A Tug Of War
Love is a tug of war,
A war without any hope.
I take the strain,
Then you drop the rope.
