Girls and their ways (a Dad’s Perspective.)

I have had the pleasure of my nieces coming over to stay with us for the last couple of days.

They are lovely and have educated me.

I now have a doctorate in Histrionics.

Goes without saying… Mine certainly went without saying, in fact it never really arrived in the first place. Ha ha.

Calling a girl’s emotions “histrionics” teaches her that what she feels is inappropriate and implies that she will only gain approval if she pretends to be something she is not. Was that your goal?

    • Curlydaz 27/08/2014 / 8:49 pm

Not at all. The goal was to say something flippant about being an adult male with three girls in town on a busy school holiday day. The histrionics were all mine and I would never be sexist or presumptuous in any of my expectations of how my daughter or nieces react to anything (they already know far more than I ever will.) hope I didn’t cause offence and sorry you did not see the funny side. My bad.

No offense taken, I was commenting on their behalf. The post is worded fairly straightforwardly; few would deduce you have changed subject by line three. Just sayin’.

I’m really grateful for your comment. Hearing from different people makes me think more and question my own thinking too. That said, I am glad I haven’t offended you. Keep your comments coming (I’ve written much more sexist things, I think) and thanks for dropping in. D

Wow, I’ll take you as an excellent sign that this week is going to be better than last (which was chock-full of auto-proctologists). Thanks for the hope.

Ha ha. I hope that’s a real profession (if not one I aspire too.) the photos on your blog make me want to travel again – so curse you and thank you – in equal measure.

Auto-proctology is the art of sticking one’s head up one’s own ass. People seemed to be competing with each other last week.

It’s a pleasure to be cursed, thank you.

Ah. Nottingham Castle! A favourite place – as is Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem!

And the Sal. Many a night (and much dignity) lost there.

Anyone who has ever tended to young girls can appreciate the ensuing histrionics, mostly by the caregiver….
